FDM 3D Printing
High-performance parts for rapid prototyping and low-cost industrial production.
FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)
FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), also known as FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication), is an additive manufacturing method in the material extrusion family. Molten thermoplastic is deposited layer by layer along a predetermined path to build the part.
With the largest installed base in the world, FDM is the first method that comes to mind when people think of 3D printing. Although it is the most affordable 3D printing technology, it offers much more: from early and functional prototyping to low-volume production with strong plastics.
- Prototyping and industrial grade
- High production capacity
- Accuracy down to ±0.3 mm
- Lead times from 1 day

Good to know
FDM 3D Printing: frequently asked questions
What is FDM?
FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), also known as FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication), is an additive manufacturing method in the material extrusion family. Molten thermoplastic is deposited layer by layer along a predetermined path to build the part.
What is FDM 3D printing suitable for?
FDM 3D Printing is especially suitable for functional prototypes, fixtures, tooling and jigs, low-volume series production, enclosures and brackets, spare parts.
How accurate are FDM parts?
We achieve ±0.5% dimensional accuracy (lower limit ±0.5 mm) with prototyping FDM and ±0.3% (lower limit ±0.3 mm) with industrial FDM.
Can large parts be produced with FDM?
Yes. With our high-capacity industrial FDM machines we often produce large parts in one go; even larger parts can be split and joined. Send us your part's dimensions and we will choose the best method together.
How do I get a quote for FDM?
Upload your 3D model and choose the material and quantity; our engineers review it and send your quotation. If you have no file, describing your idea is enough.
